Facts?

Many times “facts” are simply opinions disguised with big words and charged with strong emotions.

Don’t be fooled!

Grateful Receiving

Many people I speak with are better givers than receivers.  What they don’t realize, though, is that the two go together; that you can’t have one without the other.  There are many reasons that you should allow yourself to receive.  Among them, is the fact that “God has given us two hands; one to receive with and the other to give with.  We are not cisterns made for hoarding; we are channels made for giving.”cxxviii

Overcome Your Fear

We all have fears. Part of life is learning to overcome those fears. If you seriously want to overcome a fear, ask yourself the following two questions:

If you did it would you hurt or injure another person?

If you did it would you hurt or injure yourself?

If the answer to both of those questions is no then you must do the thing you are afraid of!

Accept Generosity and Ask For Help

This often is an overlooked aspect of generosity.  If you live life with a spirit of generosity, then you have the right and obligation to accept generosity from others.

Don’t forget to accept generosity from others. Many times, people who have learned to give have a difficult time with allowing others to do nice things for them. It is perfectly ok to accept someone else’s generosity, as long as you continue to do good for other people.  In fact, it is an obligation, because by accepting someone else’s generosity you are helping them to develop this critical trait.

The Fight

The fight isn’t over until one of three things happen:

1 You quit; you have given up on yourself.

2 You are knocked down; you can return to fight another day.

3 You win; you are the victor. You have overcome the odds.

The choice belongs to you.

How To Achieve Greatness

Image: Damian Gadal at flickr

When you feel unstoppable slow down to help someone in need.

When your just getting by take someone along for mutual support.

When you’ve fallen grab the hand that has slowed to help you up.

You don’t need a stage to be great!

“Self-Help” Programs Don’t Help

I remember when I was really young, probably my early teens, I read an ad in a magazine about being able to do or be anything I wanted.  So, like many other people, I decided to give it a shot.  Guess what?  It didn’t work.  I was out about twenty dollars, but even worse, my wallet was open.  I pursued these programs, buying new ones as they came out.  After all, once a publisher or distributor of “self-help” programs sells you one, you are then on their mailing list and you begin to receive catalogs describing how good things can be, if you only spend a little more money.  Like most people, I spent a ton of money, but got nowhere.
