Prepare  Now

In the event of a disaster, you may be on your own for a period of time. I have experienced this more than a few times

in the past several years. There was one time where the streets in my neighborhood were impassable for almost a week. There was no electricity, phone or internet service. The neighborhood was on our own. I’m happy to say that we survived!

You need to develop the skills to survive and even thrive. You need to develop a plan to organize yourself… to be ready. It’s not a question of if a disaster will happen where you live, it’s a question of when. You should be familiar with the different types of hazards that are unique to where you live, as well as the ones that could strike anywhere.

You should become familiar with different aspects of emergency preparation such as general disaster preparation, fire safety, leadership, general first aid, community and self-defense, helping your less-prepared neighbors, behavior under stress and much more. Your training should be continuous and ongoing. Strive for constant improvement in your preparation and skills. For instance one of the skills I keep trying is learning how to build fires with different and sometimes difficult materials. I have gotten good at it too. Also, talk to your neighbors now, before disaster strikes. Get a sense of the skill set and preparation surrounding you. One day you wish you did.

For additional information on being prepared I have found several different websites that may be of value.

Do your own research and make sure what they say makes sense.

I will post more as I come across them. I believe the time has come where being prepared can no longer be just a hobby… It must become a lifestyle.

God Bless
