I was at the gym early this morning and I got to thinking about my friends. It brought me into a place

of gratitude.
I’m not talking about those people that you know casually. I’m talking about those few good, close friends that know you well. They are there with you through anything. They stand shoulder-to-shoulder with challenges you never thought you would face. They celebrate when you experience victory!
What brought this to mind was a song I was listening to. The lyrics went something like this:
“When the life I built came crashing to the ground
When the friends I had were nowhere to be found
I couldn’t see it then but I can see it now
There was Jesus”
Here is the song in it’s entirety if you would like to listen too it. Thanks you Zach Williams and Dolly Parton.
It wasn’t too long ago that everyone in my life walked away from me. I mean everyone! For a long time it was just me and God. But God knew that I needed human friends. So he brought me into this spiritual, God-loving group of men and women who meet together every morning. I have to say that for the first time in my life I have true friendship. I trust these people… they have shown me that I can. They trust me… I have shown them that they can.
They bring me closer to God. They know when I am off the spiritual beam and they help to recenter me… Often!
Now don’t misunderstand me… That time I spent with God in the the wilderness was incredibly valuable. I would never change that season for anything. It shaped me into the man I am today and the man I am becoming as the Master works His will in my life. He brought me through it. I learned my lessons and now I am blessed! Part of that blessing is to have friends who understand me; who have been where I was. These people have experienced the same hurt, hopelessness and despair I have. Now we help each other.
So, from the bottom of my heart “Thank You Jesus!”
