The Two Seas In Israel

It is obvious that those who give more, naturally receive more, but why?

I like to use an example comparing the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea to illustrate why this is so.  Imagine, for a

moment, that the Dead Sea represents both takers and keepers.  Imagine also, that the Sea of Galilee represents givers.

If you were to observe the Dead Sea, you would notice that the scenery is ugly.  The atmosphere is harsh and the shores are barren.  The water is not able to sustain life and cannot quench thirst.

Looking at the Sea of Galilee, we discover an entirely different situation.  The scenery is beautiful.  The atmosphere is pleasant and the water, as well as the shore, is fertile.  The water is full of sea creatures.  The area surrounding it is full of productive farmland and thriving villages.

So, what causes this vast difference?  The difference, I believe, is in the giving.

The Dead Sea (takers and keepers), receives a reliable and continuous flow of fresh water.  The water that flows into its shores stays there.  It is kept.  The abundance of minerals that flow into it from the Jordan River is kept within its limits.

The Sea of Galilee also receives a reliable and continuous flow of fresh water.  The water flows in from the mountains located to the north.  The difference is that this sea freely supplies the Jordan River with its abundance.

The sea that remains full of life and prospers is the one that gives its abundance away.  It is a source of richness, because it freely gives its riches away.

People are the same way.  You can only prosper by the prosperity you spread into other people’s lives.  When you give out your resources, you will receive even more to give.  You will be full of abundance and life, just like the Sea of Galilee.

King Solomon said, “The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.  The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.”xliv  How true!

God Bless
