What Are Your Beliefs About Money?

I meet many people who are confused about money.  They know that they need it and they know that having more of it will help to make life easier, but when asked about their beliefs concerning money, they draw a blank.  We all have beliefs about money, many of which, we are probably unaware of.  Yes, we think we want more, but at the subconscious level we are extremely conflicted.

The Benefits of a Healthy Lifestyle

“If you grow a healthy tree, you’ll pick healthy fruit.  If you grow a diseased tree, you’ll pick worm-eaten fruit.  The fruit

tells you about the tree.”lxxxi  These words can apply to many different areas of life.  They are very true when applied to your health.  You will get exactly what you put into your plan of health.  There are so many benefits from living a healthy lifestyle that they are too numerous to mention.  I will briefly touch on the main ones here:

The Two Seas In Israel

It is obvious that those who give more, naturally receive more, but why?

I like to use an example comparing the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea to illustrate why this is so.  Imagine, for a

moment, that the Dead Sea represents both takers and keepers.  Imagine also, that the Sea of Galilee represents givers.

If you were to observe the Dead Sea, you would notice that the scenery is ugly.  The atmosphere is harsh and the shores are barren.  The water is not able to sustain life and cannot quench thirst.

Would You Rather Be Right Or Happy?

Stop spending so much of your time and energy trying to convince others about what you believe or your point of

view.  It is a waste of time, energy and rarely accomplishes much except to get the other person mad.  The best example of this is to turn on an evening talk show on one of the news networks.  There you will see the greatest example of a Dale Carnegie quote: “Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still.”xiv

What’s Your Purpose?

We are taught at an early age that if we try hard enough we can be whatever we want.  I do believe this, to a certain extent, but it misses the point of real success.  Yes, if I spend my life working 14 hours a day, 7 days a week staying on top of all the financial journals and magazines, neglecting my wife and kids, forgoing real opportunities to do good in society and to help others then there is a very real possibility that I can be successful in making some money.  If I did this, though, I would be miserable and so would everyone around me.  I would add no real value to the world.  I would just be a slave to what I think success is.

Be Prepared

Right now, all across our country and world, people are recognizing the signs of change. What this change is going to bring about in the form of societal shifts and government functions is really anyone’s guess. There are people who consider themselves “experts” and these people are telling others exactly what is going to go down; how it’s going to happen and when it’s going to occur. DON’T Listen to these predictions! No one knows the answer to these questions. Anyone who claims to know this information is usually trying to sell you something in the next sentence.

Common Money Mistakes

I have found that most people make the following mistakes when it comes to building wealth or accepting money

into their lives:

They never make having abundance a necessity: If you want something bad enough, you will get it.  Unfortunately, for many of us, we have decided on a comfort level in our lives when it comes to money.  We saw how much our parents made, we see how much our friends make and we get comfortable in that range.

Three Types of People

I have identified three types of people.  Most people fall into one of the following categories concerning their generosity:

  1. Takers
  2. Keepers
  3. Givers

I have also seen the effects of these particular lifestyles on the results people get in all areas of life.  “The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others – ignoring God – harvests a crop of weeds.  All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds!  But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.”xl

Some Suggestions About Boundaries

Photo by Dariusz Grosa from Pexels

The next suggestion I have is to learn to set clear boundaries with people.  All too often in our relationships, or even in society, we generally fail to set boundaries and because of this we develop resentments.  This can cause us to treat others badly; not just the one who is asking us to do more than we want or can, but everyone in general.
