Prepping

We live our lives just assuming that society will continue to function the way it has. It’s obvious change is coming. Be prepared for anything.

Starting with The Basics

The best place to start on your prepping journey is at the beginning. This may seem like a no-brainer but it’s really not. I meet and speak with so many people who have no idea where to begin. It can be a little bit overwhelming when looking at all that needs to be accomplished in a time frame that remains unknown. A disaster or social upheaval may occur in the next hour, minute, day, week, month, or year ahead. We just don’t know. The one thing that is absolutely certain is that if you do nothing then you will make zero progress.

Time to Start

So you have decided to begin taking steps to provide and protect your family in the event of a disaster… Good choice!

You might be wondering where to begin. I know when I first started working towards this goal myself, I felt overwhelmed. There is a lot to learn, organize and train for. The key though is to begin. It will get easier as you move forward. For now, don’t let yourself become overwhelmed. That is the surest way to fail. This is one area where you don’t want to fail. There are people counting on you.

Prepping is Necessary

If you are paying attention, it becomes clear that disasters of different kinds cause havoc in the lives of millions of

people each year around the globe. Many times these people are caught off-guard and unprepared.  These disasters cause physical, emotional, economic and social trauma in the lives of those they touch. Although you can never truly eliminate these effects; you can lessen the trauma caused and soften the blow to you and your loved ones by being prepared.

Be Prepared

Right now, all across our country and world, people are recognizing the signs of change. What this change is going to bring about in the form of societal shifts and government functions is really anyone’s guess. There are people who consider themselves “experts” and these people are telling others exactly what is going to go down; how it’s going to happen and when it’s going to occur. DON’T Listen to these predictions! No one knows the answer to these questions. Anyone who claims to know this information is usually trying to sell you something in the next sentence.

Prepare  Now

In the event of a disaster, you may be on your own for a period of time. I have experienced this more than a few times

in the past several years. There was one time where the streets in my neighborhood were impassable for almost a week. There was no electricity, phone or internet service. The neighborhood was on our own. I’m happy to say that we survived!

Introducing The One Acre Homestead

I am working on a new project that fits in nicely with Renewed2win. You can watch the video here: Introducing The One Acre Homestead.

Watch the introduction to The One Acre Homestead

Romans 12:1-2 says: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  (Romans 12:1-2 NIV)

In another version it says: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG)

The One Acre Homestead is a living classroom designed to teach you a better way to live.

We learn to walk by the time we are one; we learn to ride a bike by the time we’re six, about the same time we are starting school. We learn to drive by the time we are sixteen.  We get married, have kids and then retire.  We do this without learning about success.  I’m talking about real success.  Some of us may have learned society’s version of success and that is precisely why most people are unhappy and unfulfilled.  Of true success, we know very little or even nothing.

The One Acre Homestead is designed to teach you to live beyond your comfort zone; to stop living paycheck to paycheck. You will learn to stop working a job you hate to buy things you don’t really want or need to impress people you don’t like.

Learn to live with God and He make  2 immediate changes in your life:

  1. He will meet all of your needs. Philippians 4:19 (NIV) says: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
  2. He will change your desires to match His.  Psalm 37:4 (NIV) says ”Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

He does expect you to do your part. You will need to work hard. Working towards a self sufficient lifestyle isn’t suited to someone with little self discipline. You will also need faith. You must have the faith that believes the promises of God are true.

Living the One Acre Homestead lifestyle will lead to many exciting changes in your life. You will have:

  1. Independence. You will break free from society’s stranglehold on your happiness, peace and joy.
  2. Health. You will become healthier as you do the work necessary to live this lifestyle.
  3. Preparation. You will expect the best but be prepared for the worst.
  4. Wisdom. You will have a clarity of mind that you have never experienced before.
  5. Spiritual Growth. You were not created to be sitting in a cubicle all day.
  6. Glory to God. You will show a lost world how God works in your life if you let Him.

As the social, economic and political structures that have controlled our lives for so long seem to be crumbling all around us, take heart. There is a better way. God’s way: Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV): Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

The time to live the life God intended for you is now. Don’t put it off for another moment. Break the chains of the past as you build a bridge to the future. You will see that God truly does for us what we can’t do for ourselves if we let him.

Join me as I begin the journey of a lifetime on The One Acre Homestead because maybe everything you have ever believed doesn’t actually matter to what is truly real.

God Not Government

If there is anything the past few years has taught me, it is the importance of being prepared.

Since 2018 my family has experienced several blizzards, a micro-burst and other severe weather related events. These situations have caused disruptions in our everyday lives; in many cases for at least a week or more. We have weathered each storm and have learned many lessons. It’s important to learn from each event. What did you do right? What did you do wrong?

The Storms Of Life

Image by Jerry Coli from Pixabay

Many times life is calm and serene. We go about our days without much worry. These are the days without storms.

Occasionally, a small storm may roll in. It may be expected or it may surprise us. It rattles us but doesn’t cause too much trouble.

Sometimes a large storm hits. It may cause some damage but not enough to alter our life. We may have some trouble but we quickly move on.

Then there are the ferocious storms of life. There is major destruction. The landscape is forever changed. Our perspective changes. Nothing will ever be the same.

Are you prepared?

God Bless

The Season Is Changing

The first day of Autumn was sometime last week. We are definitely not experiencing those

nice brisk mornings followed by a comfortable day. No it is hot and humid here in Connecticut. Although, the leaves are changing rapidly… they say that’s because we are in a drought. I love fall weather and I can’t wait until it finally arrives for the season. …
